  • Roseanne Barr is under fire for appearing to promote a far-right conspiracy theory about the Parkland school shooting activist David Hogg.
  • In a since-deleted tweet, Barr wrote the words "NAZI SALUTE" in response to a conspiracy theorist's post that tagged Hogg.
  • Barr's tweet seemed to reference a debunked conspiracy that Hogg raised a Nazi salute at a March for Our Lives rally on Saturday.

Roseanne Barr sparked controversy this week for appearing to promote a far-right conspiracy theory about the Parkland shooting student-activist David Hogg.

On Tuesday evening, just before the revival of her ABC sitcom "Roseanne" premiered, Barr tweeted the words "NAZI SALUTE" in response to a Twitter user who tagged Hogg in a tweet. She later deleted her tweet.

Barr, a vocal Trump supporter with a history of promoting right-wing conspiracy theories, seemed to be referencing a far-right conspiracy theory that Hogg raised a Nazi salute at a March for Our Lives rally on Saturday.

As Mic noted, a number of Twitter users, including Chrissy Teigen, criticized Barr for the tweet, while some called out ABC for giving Barr a platform with her revived sitcom.

Barr has previously used her Twitter page to promote debunked far-right conspiracies including Pizzagate and the  conspiracy of a "cover-up" in the death of former Democratic National Convention staffer Seth Rich.

ABC did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the matter.

Once Upon A Time ABC

A slew of TV shows were canceled in 2017, and the list of shows canceled in 2018 is growing quickly, especially with streaming services like Amazon and Netflix letting go of some.

We said goodbye to a lot of shows in 2017, which was the first year Netflix decided to start really canceling shows in earnest.

The networks, as usual, axed plenty of shows (old and new) in 2017 as well, like the comedy "2 Broke Girls," which faltered in ratings later into its run. One of CBS' new shows, "Wisdom of the Crowd," was also canceled after its star, Jeremy Piven, was accused of sexual misconduct.

So if you're wondering why a show you love hasn't returned in 2018, it might have been canceled.

In this roundup, we've also included shows that knew their end was coming. HBO's "Vice Principals," for example, had always been set to finish after two seasons.

Here are all the shows that were canceled in 2017 and 2018, including those from networks and Netflix:

Canceled in 2018:

43 surprising 'Sex and the City' cameos you might have missed

sex and the city

Across 94 episodes, Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha go through their fair share of ups and downs while trying to navigate their lives.

With the many relationships each of them goes through, it's not surprising that there was a revolving door of one-off characters that were never heard from again. What is surprising is how many of these guest stars went on to become huge stars.

Like we've done with "Grey's Anatomy" and "Friends" before it, keep scrolling for the surprising stars that appeared on "Sex and the City" whose roles range from iconic to less-than-memorable.

Matthew McConaughey played a fictionalized version of himself.

McConaughey appears in the 13th episode of season three, entitled "Escape to New York." Carrie flies out to LA to potentially turn her columns into a movie, and none other than McConaughey is interested in playing Mr. Big.

These two would reunite on the big screen in 2006's rom-com "Failure to Launch."

Elizabeth Banks appeared briefly during season three.

The "Pitch Perfect" star only appears in one scene of the episode "Politically Erect," the second episode of season three. She plays the fiancée of a man that Charlotte is hitting on at a political fundraiser, and ends up complaining to about how she wants to settle down.

Bradley Cooper's first acting gig ever was his role as Jake in a season two episode.

After a disastrous photo shoot, Carrie meets Cooper's character (it's his first acting role!) in a bar when she's looking for a lighter. The two hang out all night until she sees her terrible photo from the shoot on a New York Magazine cover with the headline "Single and Fabulous?," leading her to have an identity crisis.

Cooper would reunite with Sarah Jessica Parker in "Failure to Launch," and also stars in "He's Just Not That Into You," an ensemble rom-com based on a line of dialogue from the show.

series unfortunate events easter eggs harpoon gun esme olaf skitched

This post includes major spoilers for the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" book series and the second season of the Netflix show.

The second season of Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events,"like the first season, is filled to the brim with Easter eggs and hidden references. They're slipped into the background and show just how deep and interconnected the Lemony Snicket universe is.

The show is adapted by Daniel Handler, who wrote all 13 books the show is based on under the pen name "Lemony Snicket." On the show, Patrick Warburton plays Snicket, and he's narrating what happened to the Baudelaire orphans, who are trying to escape the clutches of the evil Count Olaf, who wants to steal their family fortune. The second season adapts five books in all: "The Austere Academy,""The Esratz Elevator,""The Vile Village,""The Hostile Hospital," and "The Carnivorous Carnival."

It's a story filled with secret organizations, mysterious characters, and a highlight performance by Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf. The show also enlarges the universe from the books and takes advantage of the visual medium by slipping in jokes and clues when you least expect them. Even the opening song to each episode has clues.

Here are 47 Easter eggs and references you may have missed in the second season of "A Series of Unfortunate Events," streaming on Netflix now.

If you want to read INSIDER's roundup of Easter eggs and hidden references for the first season of the show, head over here.

On the first episode, Mr. Poe holds up a book that looks familiar.

It's called "The Pony Party!" about "the three luckiest children in the world" who "have only wonderful things happen to them."

You may have recognized it from "Lemony Snicket: The Unauthorized Autobiography."

The reverse side of the book jacket for Handler's fictional autobiography had a cover image for "The Pony Party!" It's written by "Loney M. Setnick" as the first book in "The Luckiest Kids in the World!" Snicket recommends it as a happier book to read instead of "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

On the show, Snicket also refers to it in passing on the first season. During the "Miserable Mill" episodes, he recommends that you stop watching and "pretend the woman at the door is the Duchess of Winnipeg and she’s come to throw the Baudelaires a pony party at her chateau."

The design of the book also resembles the real-life "Series of Unfortunate Events" books.

Brett Helquist created the original cover art for each book in the series.

Gypsy Netflix

While Netflix has won over critics with many of its original series, the company has had its share of critical flops, too.

But critical reception can often mean next to nothing to everyday viewers, who will flock to shows that critics have condemned, like the Netflix original comedy "Friends From College," or the Naomi Watts-led drama "Gyspy."

To find out which critically panned Netflix series are still beloved by audiences, we turned to the reviews aggregator Rotten Tomatoes to see which shows had significant discrepancies between their "critic" and "audience" scores on the site.

We ranked the shows by their audience scores, and we used the larger discrepancies to break any ties.

We finally learn the story behind Negan’s bizarre attachment to his baseball bat on 'The Walking Dead' and it's heartbreaking

the walking dead negan 811

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead," "Still Gotta Mean Something."

If you've been wondering about Negan's beloved bat Lucille, Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead" finally shed some light on the Savior leader's slightly creepy obsession with the barbed-wired baseball bat.

While held captive by Jadis, Negan opened up to the leaders of the now-dead Heapster crew.

Last chance to head back before spoilers.

the walking dead negan saviors

So what's the deal with the bat?

Negan tells Jadis his bat is named after his dead wife Lucille.

"My wife's name was Lucille. She got me through," Negan says while tied up. "I didn't give her sh-- and she got me through this life — regular life. The bat, the bat got me through this, so I named it after her. That's it. Nothing more to do with her than that, but it is the last little piece of her I have left."

We previously learned a little bit about Negan's wife earlier this season when he was trapped in a trailer with Father Gabriel. Negan said he couldn't bring himself to kill his wife when she turned, but he didn't reveal her name.

Negan's story doesn't completely win over Jadis, but Negan gets some points for opening up and being vulnerable. In the end, she spares his life so he can return to the Sanctuary to exact some sweet revenge on Simon.

Still, that's not the whole story about Lucille.

Negan leaves out a few crucial details about his beloved wife which may leave you with mixed feelings.

More of Negan's backstory is revealed in a one-off comic series called "Here's Negan."

It's revealed Lucille dies as a result of cancer. Though Negan is at her bedside when she dies, he cheats on his wife while she's sick.

Maybe the show's changing things up with Negan so he's more loyal to Lucille, but that will remain to be seen if we ever get a flashback.

7 theories about the mysterious helicopter that keeps popping up on 'The Walking Dead'

$
0
0

helicopter rick

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Sunday's "The Walking Dead."

Sunday's "The Walking Dead" brought back the mysterious helicopter Rick spotted earlier in the season.

While we're definitely sure Rick wasn't hallucinating, we're no closer to knowing where the chopper came from or why it continues flying above air in Virginia.

Is the military around searching for survivors after so long? Whatever it's business is in the area, Jadis seems to know something about the aircraft. We've rounded up what may be going on with the helicopter in Sunday's episode.

This is an updated version of a previous story we first ran in November.

1. Jadis knows more about the helicopter than she's letting on.

Jadis seems to know more about the helicopter than she's letting on. A few episodes back, Simon mentions the helipad and solar panels behind the junkyard. When he asks her what the place was before the zombie apocalypse she quickly threw him off the scent by playing dumb and saying it was always "a dump."

Why this is the most likely scenario: Jadis wasn't surprised to see the helicopter show up. She had a suitcase packed up and ready to go for a rescue. She even appeared to have a timer on a watch set up for its arrival.

It's not clear if she sent a distress signal for someone to come and rescue her, but it is curious that a helipad is conveniently located at the junkyard for a landing. Sunday's episode brings up a lot of questions: Who was Jadis in a previous life and does she know the people with the helicopter?

While she may not know exactly who operates the machine, she's clearly very familiar with it and knew it was going to be on its way.

2. It belongs to the Saviors.

Negan has been able to provide his people with food, hot water, and electricity. He also seems to have an unlimited amount of hair gel at his disposal. Is there anything Negan doesn't have at his fingertips?

Why fans thought it was possible: If you were paying close attention in November, Simon made a reference to a "flyer" in Sunday's episode. He said if they can't get the Hilltop under control then the answer may be to "take a flyer on the place and kill everyone there."

Some think he was referring to a chopper.

Why this doesn't seem the case anymore: Negan seemed genuinely surprised to see a helicopter when it appeared at the junkyard. If he had a chopper at his disposal, he probably would have used it to hightail it out of there by now.

3. It has something to do with the show's spin-off, "Fear the Walking Dead."

Morgan is heading to season four of "The Walking Dead." Maybe the shows are working towards meeting up in a larger way down the road.

Why it's likely: We've seen government groups before on "Fear the Walking Dead" and the actress who plays Madison (Kim Dickens) believes her character is related to someone on "The Walking Dead,"possibly Daryl. Will she eventually go in search of her relative?

8 details you may have missed on Sunday's 'The Walking Dead'

rick 814 walking dead

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead,""Still Gotta Mean Something."

Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead" had a lot to unpack.

Carol went on a hunt to find Henry, Rick threw on his iconic coat to go after the escaped Scavengers, and we finally got another glimpse of that mysterious helicopter from earlier in season eight. (It's not a hallucination!)

From a sweet callback to a character from years ago to a heart-to-heart between Rick and Morgan, keep reading to see all of the important references and smaller details you may have overlooked on Sunday's episode.

Jadis packs an old camera in a suitcase.

Can we have a moment to revel in Jadis' perfectly kept apocalypse trailer? We're not sure how she has such nice living quarters, but maybe the Scavenger leader was tiny home designer in a previous life.

She used that camera to take photos of Rick.

Jadis had a weird obsession with Rick. When she kidnapped him earlier in the season, she had most of his clothes removed and ordered one of her pack to draw him.

She nearly lost it on Sunday's episode when Negan threatened to light her photographs on fire.

Ezekiel tells Carol he's downright disappointed in her.

After Henry goes missing and the Savior prisoners escape, Ezekiel wonders why Carol doesn't go after them. Carol comes up with a lame excuse saying that she may be needed at the Hilltop in case there's another attack.

Ezekiel isn't having it and he references a time when Carol got him back up on his feet recently.

"You told me to pretend to make it real until it is so and you cannot," a disappointed Ezekiel tells Carol. "You who I thought were the bravest person I met."

5 crucial details you may have missed in the preview for next week's 'The Walking Dead'

maggie hilltop the walking dead

Warning: There are potential spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead."

We're rolling into the final two episodes of the eighth season of "The Walking Dead." If you watched the preview for next Sunday's episode, you may want to go back and watch it again, slower.

There are a few big reveals centered around a map you may have missed as the scenes flash by quickly. If you don't want to be spoiled, this is your last chance to head back.

Dwight is writing a warning for Rick's group.

He sketches out a map with the locations of Negan's men so the Hilltop isn't caught off guard. It's not clear how he's going to get away from the Sanctuary undetected to deliver this message.

There's just one problem with Dwight's map: It's missing one of the locations.

When you compare the maps in two different frames of the preview, Negan's has one more circle than Dwight's.

Did Dwight do that on purpose or could he not remember all of the locations? If he doesn't draw that 11th circle than he could be putting Rick's group at risk.

If you do the math, that's a lot of people Negan still has at his disposal.

Dwight says there will be 11 people at each location on the map. Negan's map shows 11 locations. You're telling me Negan still has at least 121 Saviors at his disposal to go to war?

How many men did he start with and how many were lost when they were overrun with zombies? Does it even matter at this point?

  • Not everyone loved John Legend on NBC's "Jesus Christ Superstar Live!" Sunday night.
  • Chrissy Teigen defended him against the trolls on Twitter.
  • Throughout his performance as Jesus Christ, Teigen tweeted her support.

Not everyone loved "Jesus Christ Superstar Live!," but Chrissy Teigen was there to defend it on Twitter.

The NBC broadcast of the live musical, originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, aired Sunday night, to coincide with Easter. It starred John Legend, Teigen's husband, as Jesus, as well as Alice Cooper, Ben Daniels, and Sara Bareilles.

A few people badmouthed the musical because of Webber's interpretation of the Biblical story and because of Legend's and Teigen's involvement. And Chrissy Teigen hit back. When Bill O'Reilly made a joke about the show's portrayal of Jesus' workplace, she pointed out that O'Reilly reportedly struck $32 million in settlements paid to people he allegedly sexually harassed at his former job at Fox News.

O'Reilly didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.

To another critic, she sarcastically took the criticism in stride.

Throughout the musical's broadcast, Teigen cheered on her husband from the live audience and commented on everyone's outfits.

If you missed the live broadcast or want to relive the experience, NBC put most of the songs on YouTube.

John Oliver blasts Sinclair for making local TV news anchors recite a speech about 'false news' like 'members of a brainwashed cult'

  • John Oliver took aim at Sinclair Broadcast Group on Sunday after a viral video last week showed dozens of the company's local TV news anchors reciting a speech about "false news."
  • The video follows a CNN report describing how Sinclair forced its nearly 200 local news stations to air "must run" promotional packages akin to "pro-Trump propaganda."
  • In the video, the anchors recite a speech about "the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country."
  • Oliver, who has previously called out Sinclair for its "noticeably conservative" bias, played the full video on Sunday and said Sinclair anchors sounded like members of a "brainwashed cult."

John Oliver took aim at Sinclair Broadcast Group on Sunday's "Last Week Tonight" after a Deadspin video showing dozens of the company's local TV news anchors reciting a speech about "false news" went viral last week.

The video follows a CNN report last month describing how Sinclair forced the nearly 200 local news stations it owns to air "must run" promotional packages akin to "pro-Trump propaganda."

In the Deadspin video, the anchors recite a speech about "the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country," echoing President Donald Trump's consistent bashing of news outlets' coverage of his administration as "fake news."

Oliver, who in July dedicated an episode to calling Sinclair out for its "noticeably conservative" bias, played the Deadspin video on Sunday night's episode.

"Nothing says 'we value independent media' like dozens of reporters forced to repeat the same message over and over again like members of a brainwashed cult," Oliver said.

A scene of Rick reading Carl's letter on 'The Walking Dead' leaked online — and it's going to make you cry

rick sad walking dead

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Sunday's upcoming episode of "The Walking Dead."

Sunday's episode of "The Walking Dead" ended with Rick about to read the letter Carl left him behind after his untimely death

If you're wondering what it says, you don't have to wait to know.

Fans with an AMC premiere account can watch the opening minutes of next week's episode here and it shows a teary-eyed Rick reading Carl's letter while looking out at the Hilltop. It's bound to make you tear up as well.

This is your last chance to head back before spoilers.

rick michonne the walking dead

A YouTube user uploaded the opening scene to the video-sharing platform late Sunday night and it's been gaining traction on the "Walking Dead" subreddit ever since.

We won't post the link here, but it's easy enough to find if you're looking.

Unlike Carl's letter to Negan, this one delivers a bit more of an emotional punch.

Rick isn't simply poring over a handwritten letter fans need to decipher. Chandler Riggs returns in a voice-over to read the letter aloud to his father from beyond the grave.

If you were upset over Carl's death on the show, the nearly four-minute scene will get the water works going.

The scene shows glimpses of Carl's written note several times throughout the scene. If you compare the written version to what Carl says aloud, there are a few minor differences.

Here's what Carl's letter to Rick says in full:

"I remember my 8th birthday at the KCC with the giant cake and Aunt Evie showing up on leave surprising all of us. I remember mom. I remember Codger.* I remember school and going to the movies and Friday night pizza and cartoons and grandma and grandpa and church. Those summer barbecues and the kiddie pool you got me — could have used that at the prison.

You told me about the walks we’d take when I was three … you holding my hand around the neighborhood all the way to Ross’ farm. I didn’t know that I remembered them, but I do because I see the sun and the corn and that cow that walked up to the fence and looked me in the eye. And you told me about all that stuff but it isn’t just that stuff. It’s how I felt. Holding your hand, I felt happy and special and I felt safe.

I thought growing up was about getting a job and maybe a family, being an adult. But growing up is making yourself and the people you love safe, as safe as you can because things happen. They happened before. You were shot before things went bad. I kind of felt like things went bad because you were shot. I want to make you feel safe, dad. I want you to feel just like I felt when you held my hand. Just to feel that way for five minutes, I’d give anything to make you feel that way now.

I wanted to kill Negan. I wish I did, maybe it would have been done. I don’t think it’s done now. You went out there again, but I don’t think they surrendered. I don’t think they will surrender. There were workers in there, dad. They’re just regular people — old people, young people, families. You don’t want them to die, dad.

We’re so close to starting everything over and we have friends now. That bigger world Jesus talked about, the Kingdom, the Hilltop, there’s got to be more places, more people out there, a chance for everything to change and keep changing — everyone giving everyone the opportunity to have a life, a real life. So if they won’t end it, you have to. You have to give them a way out.

You have to find peace with Negan. Find a way forward somehow. We don’t have to forget what happened, but you can make it so that it won’t happen again, that nobody has to live this way, that every life is worth something.

Start everything over. Show everyone that they can be safe again without killing. They can feel safe again. That it can go back to being birthdays, and school, and jobs, and even Friday night pizza somehow, and walks with a dad and a three-year-old holding hands. Make that come back, dad. And go on those walks with Judith. She’ll remember them.

I love you.

Carl"

The significance of Carl's letter: Rick needs to put his grudges aside (and maybe hang up the murder coat for good)

carl walking dead letter

Carl references a few significant moments from his childhood. He mentions a few unfamiliar names including, what sounds like Codger. Perhaps this was another relative or maybe a family pet.

But the main takeaway is that Carl wants Rick to see past all of the senseless bloodshed right now to build a better world for everyone.

rick judith carl's future 809

Maybe Rick should have read this letter before he ruthlessly took out an entire group of Saviors with Morgan. Hopefully, this is the impetus which will help Rick see that he needs to stop this silly fight with Negan. Negan already seemed ready to make peace with Rick when he told him Carl was dead. The two just need to be on the same page to carry through with Carl's wishes.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW: All the chefs from Netflix's 'Chef's Table'

$

chef's table virgilio martinez

  • Netflix's original documentary show, "Chef's Table," features a different successful chef each episode.
  • So far there have been three seasons of the show, and while each chef was accomplished before appearing on the show, it undoubtedly made them more well-known.
  • Here's where the chefs are now.

Netflix takes you along with some of the world's best chefs in its documentary show, "Chef's Table," giving audiences an inside look into how some of the best think about food, talk about food, and, of course, cook food.

Each episode tells the story of one chef, letting you get a sense of who they are and how they work. Each chef was accomplished in their own right before being featured on the show, but in some cases they may not have been all that well-known outside of the food world prior to that.

The show often increases these chef's reach, making them known to more people than ever before. Massimo Bottura, for instance, featured on the show's very first episode, told Food & Wine that he thought 25 million people watched his episode of the show.

Most of these chefs haven't slowed down since their appearances on the show. Here's what they've been up to since then.

1. Massimo Bottura

Bottura feels strongly about fighting both food waste and world hunger. And although he was already working on this around the time his episode came out — he developed Refettorio Ambrosiano — a soup kitchen in Milan— for the 2015 Milan World Expo, as The Guardian reported — his project has grown quite a bit. During the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Bottura opened a Refettorio to serve that city's homeless population, and worked with chefs, community partners, and many others to serve meals made from food that was unfit to be sold at grocery stores.

Bottura and his wife, Lara Gilmore, founded Food for Soul, a non-profit organization of which Gilmore is president, in 2016. The organization has opened four Refeitorios total, including one in London in 2017 and one in Paris in March of 2018, and has plans for more.

As Reuters reported, Bottura also opened a 50-seat restaurant in Florence, Gucci Osteria. In 2016, Osteria Francescana came in at number one on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list, as Forbes reported. Bottura has also cooked special dinners around the world and wrote a book (with help from the chefs who cooked at Refettorio Ambrosiano in 2015) called "Bread is Gold," the proceeds of which go to Food for Soul, helping to fund its Refettorios and Social Table projects around the world.

2. Dan Barber

Dan Barber, was also featured on the first season of "Chef's Table." Like Bottura, Barber is passionate about fighting food waste — his pop-up concept WastED, which makes food out of food waste, appeared in New York and London in 2015 and 2017, respectively  but he's also been interested in plant breeding (specifically breeding for flavor), seed diversity, and more. Civil Eats reported that, in February of 2018, Barber and his partners, Michael Mazourek and Matthew Goldfarb, founded Row 7 Seed Co. The company sells seven different types of organic seeds, from beets to potatoes, and more.

3. Francis Mallmann

If you watched Francis Mallmann’s episode of "Chef's Table," chances are, you had thoughts about it. Mallmann lives in South America, spends quite a bit of time in more remote, secluded locations, and cooks with fire. Esquire reported that Mallmann and Vanina Chimeno, the mother of his young daughter shown in the episode, got married in 2016.

In 2017, as The New York Times reported, Mallmann opened a restaurant in Aix-en-Provence, France at Château La Coste, as well as a restaurant called Fuegos de Apalta at the Montes Winery Estate in Chile, Vine Pair reported. Also, Mallmann writes a weekly article for a newspaper, but they're not all about food, and he hopes to direct films.

Here's what one 'Walking Dead' star knows about that mysterious helicopter and who it may belong to

helicopter walking dead

Warning: There are some spoilers ahead if you have not watched last Sunday's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead,""Still Gotta Mean Something."

The mysterious helicopter returned briefly on Sunday's "The Walking Dead." And while we definitely know it isn't a hallucination now, we're still no closer to knowing who it belongs to or why it keeps appearing near the junkyard.

One thing's certain. Out of everyone on the show, Jadis seems to know more about the helicopter than she's letting on. After all, she was packing a suitcase to get ready for her big move!

"Yeah, she definitely made plans to meet with this 'copter coming," McIntosh told INSIDER of Jadis' strategy. "She's always got a plan."

But who could this mystery helicopter belong to? Maybe a new community.

Who's flying that helicopter and does it belong to a larger group

If McIntosh knows, she's holding that info close to the vest.

"It's really exciting to try and figure out, to think of where that could go because she's certainly in touch with people that don't seem to be the people that we know already," said McIntosh. "This seems to be some other situation out there. Is it an extension of the Heapster community? Is it another community? Is it a single person? Is it a group? I don't wanna give too much away."

Jadis knows more than she's letting on about the chopper

When Negan tries to ask Jadis about the helicopter, she doesn't give him any information. But if you go back and watch the episode a second time, you'll notice she seems to know the helicopter's schedule (which is pretty impressive considering they're living in a post-calendar world).

Jadis is constantly checking her watch and even set an alarm for right before it comes.

"Yeah, I think she's definitely got some ongoing situation with whoever is flying that helicopter," said McIntosh. "She's planned it, she's got her timer on, but she's really massively disappointed with the idea that it seems like they don't come all the time."

If Jadis knew the helicopter was coming, why did she bring Negan out of the holding cell right at that moment?

"Who knows that they're not connected?" McIntosh said coyly.

Was Jadis going to take Negan for a helicopter ride? Maybe.

How much does Pollyanna McIntosh know about the helicopter? Well, it's been there since season seven.

McIntosh was waiting to interact with the helicopter in some way, because it's been hinted at on the show since last season.

"I was excited seeing it in the script for [Sunday's] episode, because I didn't know how soon I would get to find out what the story was with it," said McIntosh of the helicopter's return. "We've had Simon talking about the 'copter before this episode. We've had 'copters flying over Rick's head when he was at the heap. That thing people decided was bad CGI, whether it was a bird or plane in the background."

McIntosh is referring to a moment from season seven's 10th episode in which an object flew behind Rick's head at the junkyard.

Many fans were quick to think it was a bird or an editing mistake, though some guessed it might be a hint at other survivors in the apocalypse.

Whether or not it was a mistake during production doesn't matter anymore. It seems like it's canon now.

McIntosh said you can spot some other things in the background if you go back and watch closely.

"[Others] have spotted the helipad in the background when Rick's on the heap before. There's a few fun fan theories about all this stuff, but the show seemed to have dropped in a little hint back then even if you look really closely," McIntosh added. "I knew that it [the helicopter] was going to be coming at some point ... and the mystery continues."

McIntosh is right. If you go back to season seven, episode 10, you're able to go back and find the solar panels Simon mentioned to Jadis a few episodes back along with the helipad. This story has been in the works for a while.

Unfortunately, if you try and watch the scene again on Netflix, it appears the small scene has been edited out of the episode. You can find it on YouTube here

Will we see more of the helicopter this season? We'll definitely get at least one more scene of Jadis.

"I know that there's more in store for her in this season and I think that people will be kind of excited by the results," said McIntosh.

'The Walking Dead' fans are trying to figure out who got into Negan's car on Sunday's episode — here's who it could be

negan car walking dead

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Sunday's episode of AMC's "The Walking Dead,""Still Gotta Mean Something."

On Sunday's "The Walking Dead," Negan picked up a mystery hitchhiker on his way back to the Sanctuary.

Who did he pick up?

The answer seemed pretty obvious to us originally, but after AMC released a series of new photos from the next episode we're torn between two logical answers.

Keep reading to see the most likely candidates Negan picked up along with one zany fan theory on who his passenger may be.

1. It's Savior Laura.

Dwight wasn't the only Savior who survived the fallout at Alexandria.

Laura watched Dwight mercilessly kill some of the members of their group before she fled for the Sanctuary.

Why it's likely: As far as we know, the tattooed Savior is still lost out in the woods trying to find her way home.

Before Dwight went back to the Sanctuary, he asked a few of the Saviors if she was found. He knows the moment she returns that she's going to out him for double-crossing Negan. At that point, there's no point in him pretending he's still on Negan's side.

Finding Laura would be an added bonus for Negan who already has a bone to pick with Simon for ordering the slaughter of Jadis' entire group.

2. It's Gregory.

Gregory escaped with the other members of the Sanctuary from the Hilltop. While Rick and Morgan stumbled upon the runaways on last Sunday's episode, Gregory was nowhere to be found.

He's still waiting to be found.

Why it's looking like he's the one: When AMC released new photos for Sunday's upcoming episode, Gregory could be seen at the Sanctuary in several of them.

Gregory's survival skills on his own out in the wild aren't too great so we doubt he would have been able to navigate to the Sanctuary on his own. It's more likely he hitched a ride.

If that's the case, it's a bit disappointing. As much as we're fans of Dwight, we'd love to see the drama Laura's return would start.

3. Dwight's ex, Sherry.

Remember Sherry? She was one of Negan's many wives who escaped from the Sanctuary after letting Daryl out of his cell on season seven.

Did she finally decide she can't survive on her own? We doubt it.

Sherry hated being a part of Negan's harem.

When her ex-husband Dwight went looking for her, he came upon a pretty heartbreaking note she left him saying she was long gone. Negan also had a hunch that Sherry let Daryl escape, and he wouldn't be too kind to her if she returned.

The actress who played Sherry, Christine Evangelista, currently stars on E!'s "The Arrangement." We don't see her leaving there anytime soon.

The director of the first 3 'Men in Black' movies explains why he won't make a 4th

will smith men in black

  • Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed the first three "Men in Black" movies, told INSIDER he won't return to the franchise because he doesn't get along with the producers.
  • He, Will Smith, and Tommy Lee Jones have all moved on to other projects.
  • The fourth movie will reportedly reboot the series with different actors and characters.
  • Sonnenfeld is focusing on a different franchise: "A Series of Unfortunate Events."

Barry Sonnenfeld's three "Men in Black" movies made more than $1.6 billion at the global box office and helped turn Will Smith into a superstar.

But Sonnenfeld isn't interested in making a sequel. He told INSIDER he doesn't get along with the producers of the series, and stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones want to leave the franchise behind for other projects.

"The producers and I don’t really get along," Sonnenfeld said. "It didn’t seem like it was something any of us wanted to do."

Sonnenfeld directed the first two "Men in Black" movies at Sony in 1997 and 2002, then followed it up with a third movie in 2012. Despite reported behind-the-scenes drama and a lawsuit over Sonnenfeld's pay, the long-delayed follow-up received strong reviews and was the highest-grossing in the series, unadjusted for inflation.

But for the fourth film, Sony is taking a different direction entirely.

The fourth movie is going to be a reboot — and with a different director.

Sony is developing a fourth movie without Sonnenfeld's involvement, reportedly to be made by "The Fate of the Furious" director F. Gary Gray. It'll reboot the series with new characters, according to Variety.

"After 'Men in Black 3,' it was pretty clear that Will and Tommy and I had sort of decided we didn't want to do any more of those," Sonnenfeld said. "It was a lot of fun. And I loved working with Will and Tommy. But they worked too hard and too long. We all just wanted to move on."

Representatives for Smith and Jones didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.

Sonnenfeld said F. Gary Gray would be an appropriate choice for a "Men in Black 4" director. Sonnenfeld directed "Get Shorty" in 1995, based on an Elmore Leonard novel, and Gray directed an adaptation of the novel's sequel, "Be Cool," in 2005.

"I love that F. Gary Gray is like the guy who comes in and directs sequels of shows I've done," Sonnenfeld said with appreciation. "That’s really kind of cool."

The movie won't be a crossover with "21 Jump Street," an idea once famously pitched by Jonah Hill in a leaked Sony email as "clean and rad and powerful" and had James Bobin attached to direct. That version of the movie has since been scrapped.

21-jump-street

Sonnenfeld said he never expected the "21 Jump Street" crossover to happen, but thought it would have been cool.

"Truly, I didn't think the '21 Jump Street' thing would happen because it was too expensive," Sonnenfeld said. "You've got too many producers. because you got Neal Moritz, who owns the '21 Jump Street' franchise. Then you've got Spielberg, who owns the 'Men in Black' franchise. Then you got all these expensive actors."

Now Sonnenfeld has moved on to another franchise: "Unfortunate Events."

Sonnenfeld said that conflicts with the "Men in Black" producers is also why he never ended up directing the 2004 "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" movie at Paramount. Sonnenfeld was signed on to direct and had already hired several people for the movie.

Then Paramount brought on the same same producers Sonnenfeld "didn't get along" with while pursuing a distribution partner to help pay for the project.

In the end, Sonnenfeld left and retained just an executive producing credit for the movie.

Now more than a decade later, Sonnenfeld is making the critically acclaimed "A Series of Unfortunate Events" TV adaptation for Netflix. He's one of the showrunners and directing a third of the series himself. It's in the middle of production for its third season.

"There’s never been a studio that’s been as great to work with as Netflix," Sonnenfeld told us. "I've never had a studio be so supportive to a really weird vision."

Representatives for Sony Pictures and for F. Gary Gray didn't immediately respond to INSIDER's request for comment.

  • "Riverdale" stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse play TV couple Betty and Jughead.
  • Theories have said the actors have been dating in real life for months.
  • They haven't confirmed the news.
  • New photos from Paris show the two kissing and holding hands.

New photos seem to confirm that everyone's favorite "Riverdale" couple are dating in real life.

Lili Reinhart, 21, and Cole Sprouse, 25, play Betty and Jughead on the hit CW drama. Bughead, as the couple are lovingly called by fans, have had an on-again, off-again relationship since the show's first season. Images shared online show Reinhart and Sprouse kissing and holding hands while on a trip in Paris for Rivercon, a French convention for the show

Backgrid News Agency captured the photos

Fans of the show have speculated that the romance between the two actors spread to real life for months.

In August 2017, Reinhart shared an Instagram photo for Sprouse's birthday thanking him for being in her life.

"To the man who has showed me more beautiful places in this past year than I have ever seen in my whole life," she wrote in the caption. "Happy birthday, Cole. Thank you for all of the adventures and here's to many more."

But even before that, People reported that the two were seen getting cozy at Comic-Con in 2017.

At Paley Fest in March 2018, a fan asked the actors if they were actually dating. The two shifted in their seats for a few seconds before Sprouse responded with "no comment."

Reinhart has talked about how uncomfortable fans' obsession with their romance has made her.

"It’s horrifying how invested some people are in my love life. Emphasis on 'my.' It is mine. It is private," Reinhart wrote on her Tumblr page in October 2017. "If a stranger's love life is causing you anger, frustration or anxiety…please reevaluate your priorities. I also want to point out that there is a difference between shipping Betty and other characters, and shipping me with literally everyone I make eye contact with."

It's up to the actors to confirm the news on their own time, but fans are ecstatic about the photos.

'Roseanne' showrunner responds to criticism of Roseanne Barr's political views: 'Nobody is making anybody watch the show'

Roseanne

  • "Roseanne" co-showrunner Bruce Helford downplayed the significance of Roseanne Barr's controversial political views in relation to the ABC sitcom's viewership, in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
  • Barr has sparked controversy for her online promotion of far-right conspiracy theories and her vocal support of President Trump, while "Roseanne" premiered last week to high ratings.
  • Helford said that if Barr's politics bother you, "That's OK. Nobody is making anybody watch the show."

The co-showrunner of ABC's sitcom "Roseanne" said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that viewers of the show should separate star Roseanne Barr's controversial political views, including her promotion of far-right conspiracy theories, from the show's content.

While "Roseanne" premiered last week to high ratings, Barr drew criticism for her online history of propagating conspiracies like Pizzagate and a "Nazi salute" conspiracy related to a Parkland shooting activist.

THR asked Bruce Helford, "How do you get people who are turned off by your star's politics to watch?"

"There should be an understanding that there is a difference between people's personal politics and what you present onscreen," Helford said. "We're hopefully presenting a wonderful, balanced show that doesn’t have an agenda."

"But beyond that, anybody can dig into anybody's stuff and find stuff. But if her politics bothers them, then they shouldn’t watch the show. That's OK. Nobody is making anybody watch the show," he continued. "We consider ourselves guests in the public's home and as guests we know that people have the option to turn it off if they don't want to watch."

Barr's politics aside, the show itself has already drawn controversy in its second week for a joke that referenced ABC's minority-led sitcoms"Black-ish" and "Fresh Off the Boat."

Roseanne Conner, Barr's character on the show, is a Trump supporter. Barr herself has been a vocal Trump supporter since the lead-up to the 2016 election.
