A Batwoman TV show featuring DC's openly lesbian superhero is in the works

batwoman

  • A Batwoman show is in the works at CW.
  • It would be part of the "Arrow"-verse alongside "The Flash,""Supergirl," and "Legends of Tomorow" and could debut as early as 2019.
  • The character, who is openly gay, will be introduced in a giant crossover event in December.

Batwoman could soon be coming to the “Arrow”-verse.

Variety has learned that The CW is developing a series about the DC superhero that would debut in 2019 should it get picked up.  News of the development comes after the network announced in May that the character would appear in the annual crossover event between four of the CW’s DC shows: “The Flash,” “Arrow,” “Legends of Tomorrow,” and “Supergirl.”

In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

Caroline Dries will serve as the writer and executive producer on the project. Dries has a long history with CW, having worked as a writer and producer on “The Vampire Diaries” and the network’s new iteration of “Melrose Place.” She also worked as a writer on “Smallville,” which centered on Clark Kent before he become Superman. Dries is repped by WME.

Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will also executive produce via Berlanti Productions. Geoff Johns, who recently stepped down as the head of DC Entertainment, will also executive produce. Berlanti Productions will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Should the show get picked up–which seems more than likely–it would be Berlanti’s seventh show on The CW and 15th on the air overall, thus further cementing his record for most live-action shows on the air at one time. In addition to the four previously mentioned DC shows, he also produces the  CW superhero drama “Black Lightning,” “Riverdale,” and the upcoming high school football drama “All American.”

Outside of The CW, he produces the upcoming dramas “God Friended Me” and “The Red Line” for CBS,  “Blindspot” at NBC, “You” for Lifetime, “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” on Netflix, and “Titans” and “Doom Patrol” at the DC streaming service, DC Universe.

Batwoman, the first openly gay DC superhero, would also add to the CW’s recent track record of inclusion on its airwaves.

keeping up with the kardashians

Reality TV shows are a guilty pleasure for many people, whether they care to admit it or not.

For decades, reality series have given viewers memorable villains, epic couples, and plenty of shocking moments.

There is also no short supply of different kinds of reality shows, from competitions to makeovers. While some don't last too long, there are others that become so popular that they remain on TV for years, providing numerous seasons of enjoyment.

With the return of "Fear Factor" on MTV on Tuesday, July 17 at 10 p.m. ET, here are the longest-running reality TV shows of all time.

"Cops" (1989 to present)

Paramount Network's "Cops" has been on air consistently since 1989. On the show, real-life cops travel with cameras to give viewers an inside look at what the occupation entails, from high-speed pursuits to drug busts and robberies.

Biggest stars: Each episode highlights a different law enforcement officer from across the country.

"The Real World" (1992 to present)

When "The Real World" first aired on MTV in the '90s, the idea was to follow several young people living together in the same city, experiencing the same things that typical youths are forced to confront — like religion and sexuality. The first season took place in New York City, while the most recent season (season 32) took place in Seattle, Washington.

Biggest stars: One of the most successful stars from "The Real World" is Jamie Chung, who is now an actress. Chung had a recurring role on season three of "Gotham" and currently stars as Blink on FOX's "The Gifted."

"The Challenge" (1998 to present)

MTV's "The Challenge" has been part of the network since it first aired in June 1998. Each season, familiar faces from other MTV shows (like "Are You the One?""The Real World," and "Road Rules") and new hopefuls complete tasks with the goal of getting the cash prize at the end of the competition.

Biggest stars: In November 2017, MTV launched "The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars," which featured previous champions facing off against celebrities. Stars on the show included Shawn Johnson, MTV's Matt Rife, rapper and actor Romeo Miller, and NFL player Terrell Owens.

13 on-screen best friends that reportedly hated each other in real life

r2d2 and c3po star wars 218431

Acting is a unique profession in which you can find yourself sequestered with your co-workers for 15 hours a day, seven days a week. So it makes sense that personalities clash and drama ensues.

But it's always sad to find out that your BFF goals couldn't actually stand being in a room together, like Julianna Margulies and Archie Panjabi, who played dynamic duo Alicia and Kalinda on "The Good Wife." And what hasn't been said about the legendary falling out of Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall on "Sex and the City"?

Here are 13 on-screen besties that reportedly couldn't stand each other off-screen.

Three of the four stars of "Desperate Housewives" got along great — but they all reportedly couldn't stand Teri Hatcher.

The feud between the ladies of Wisteria Lane is well-publicized. It appears to have stemmed from Teri Hatcher, who played Susan, considering herself the star of the show, though all four of the actresses were technically leads.

While Nicolette Sheridan (who played Edie before getting killed off in season five) called Hatcher "the meanest woman in the world," the drama came to a head when the cast appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair.

According to Today, an ABC rep demanded that Hatcher wouldn't be the first to get to pick her wardrobe, and wouldn't be shot in the center of the cover photo, in order to appease the rest of the group.

When Hatcher finagled her way into wardrobe first anyhow, Marcia Cross allegedly stormed off set, while Eva Longoria shot off angry texts to their rep.

The drama was seemingly confirmed by a telling omission on the wrap gifts the stars gave to the crew — Hatcher's name was completely left off the card.

And if you thought this was all in the past, you're wrong. In 2018, six years after the show ended, Longoria appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" claiming that the crew was all still "very good friends," before correcting herself with, "99% of us are."

The feud between "Sex and the City" co-stars Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker has reached a fever pitch recently.

Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker have had a long-simmering feud that recently exploded when Cattrall was blamed for "Sex and the City 3" not happening. The actress, who played Samantha Jones on the hit HBO comedy, tweeted that "The only 'DEMAND' I ever made was that I didn't want to do a 3rd film."

Things got even more heated when Parker publicly expressed her condolences when Cattrall's brother passed away. Cattrall blasted her former co-star on Instagram, ending her caption with "Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend," adding, "I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Parker has yet to respond to Cattrall's comments, though she stands by the fact that in her eyes, there's no feud

For years, Jennie Garth was rumored to have gotten Shannen Doherty fired from "Beverly Hills, 90210."

Doherty and Garth are reportedly friends now, 20 years after the filming of "Beverly Hills, 90210," but at the time their drama almost came to blows.

Garth told E! News in 2014 that "there were times when we wanted to claw each other's eyes out." When Doherty's character Brenda was unceremoniously written off the show, while Kelly, played by Garth, stayed on for the show's 10-season run, people were suspicious.

However, it was revealed that a third party was responsible for Brenda's indefinite trip to London: fellow star Tori Spelling, whose father Aaron Spelling, produced the show. She admitted on a Lifetime special "Tori Spelling: Celebrity Lie Detector" that she asked her father to write Doherty off the show after Doherty and Garth almost got into a physical fight.

12 celebrities you forgot guest-starred on 'Parks and Recreation'

leslie ann parks rec

Since “Parks and Recreation” ended in 2013, the workplace comedy has joined the halls of TV fame alongside other binge-worthy comedies such as “The Office,” “30 Rock,” and “Arrested Development.”

The show lasted seven seasons and centered on a group of co-workers at a small Parks and Recreation department and their unfailing dedication to a city filled with raccoon infestations, divisive citizens, and a giant pit.

The show boasts a talented array of actors in its main cast and also played host by numerous celebrities that gave the small town of Pawnee a visit. We rounded up our favorite celebrity guest stars you may have forgotten about.

Michelle Obama played herself.

There is very little that can faze Olympic-level overachiever Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), but meeting former First Lady Michelle Obama did the trick. While Leslie visits California to consider a job for the National Parks Service, Michelle Obama appears to wish her well and state how important it is to have passionate people in government positions.

Leslie nods adamantly and replies, "I agree with you on all things throughout history until the end of times forever." Their interaction commences with an awkward and endearing high five.

Kristen Bell was on the town council.

Kristen Bell is perfectly terrible as Ingrid de Forest, an Eagleton councilwoman and Leslie’s snobby counterpart. Ingrid often makes reference to Eagleton’s lavish and glamorous lifestyle by proudly stating that Eagleton fills their public pools with bottled water and used government money to buy HBO for their whole town. After the Eagleton-Pawnee merger, Ingrid replaces Leslie on the town council.

In addition to guest starring on "Parks and Recreation," Bell has also worked alongside lead Adam Scott on numerous shows including "Party Down,""Veronica Mars," and "The Good Place."

Jon Hamm played an incompetent employee.

Hamm is introduced near the show’s end as Ed, a bumbling but enthusiastic National Parks employee. After the show’s time jump in the final season, Leslie immediately fires Ed, saying, "You're the most incompetent person I’ve ever worked with, and that includes Terry." Ed cheerfully accepts her order and waves goodbye to the office, thanking them for letting him work there for the three years that unfolded off-screen.

While the streaming service's growth has lagged in at least one foreign market, the more than 1 billion potential viewers in India, Netflix has seen significant user penetration in many other countries.

Emarketer, which measured Netflix's global penetration in a new study, predicted that nearly 765 million people worldwide will use a subscription over-the-top (OTT) video service, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, at least once per month in 2018. The study estimated that nearly 44% of those 765 million people will use Netflix.

Emarketer also estimated which countries had the highest levels of user penetration for Netflix, which it tracked as the number of individuals of any age who watched Netflix via app or website at least once per month. The newest episode of 'Dr Pimple Popper' shows a cyst that looks like it's full of cottage cheese — and the pop is truly jaw-dropping

dr pimple popper tlc show ronen leg cyst 4x3

  • The second episode of Dr. Pimple Popper's new TLC show — also titled "Dr. Pimple Popper"— aired on July 18.
  • Ronen, the first patient featured on the episode, seeks Dr. Sandra Lee's help to treat a large, painful bump above his knee.
  • The bump turns out to be an epidermoid cyst— and Lee says it is "the biggest" she's ever seen.
  • As soon as Lee makes an incision in the skin, the cyst's cottage cheese–esque contents spill out like a waterfall.
  • Warning: This post contains graphic images.

"Dr. Pimple Popper," the new show starring YouTube personality and dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee, premiered last week on TLC. It featured some impressive procedures, including the removal of "the biggest" lipoma Lee had ever encountered

But the second episode, which aired Wednesday night, offered the series' first truly jaw-dropping moment: the popping of a gigantic, decades-old cyst on a man's thigh.

The episode opens with Ronen, a 49-year-old with a huge bump on his left leg.

dr pimple popper tlc show ronen cyst leg

In an interview filmed at his home in New York, Ronen explains that the lump first appeared when he was around 12 years old but rapidly increased in size this past year.

He says the lump causes "excruciating pain" during everyday tasks, like putting on pants. But he adds that medical professionals haven't taken the growth seriously.

"I've talked to many doctors about it and they've all told me it's not a big deal, you should leave it alone," Ronan says during the episode. "I feel disappointed. I feel very frustrated. And I feel very angry."

Lee diagnoses the lump as "the biggest" cyst she's ever seen.

dr pimple popper tlc show ronen leg cyst exam

At first, Lee isn't sure exactly what's inside the lump on Ronen's leg. She starts by trying to suck out its contents with a syringe to see if it's solid or liquid. When the syringe pulls out nothing but "cyst fragments," Lee determines that the growth is an epidermoid cyst. It's a usually benign growth that occurs when a sac under the skin fills up with dead skin cells over time.

Fans of Lee's YouTube channel have seen plenty of these cysts popped on camera before. But this one marks a major milestone for Lee.

"This is the biggest cyst that I've ever seen," she says during the episode. "This is the standing world record of Dr. Pimple Popper's biggest cyst ever."

It looks like it's full of cottage cheese — a lot of cottage cheese.

dr pimple popper tlc show cyst pop

Lee starts the popping process by making an incision in the tightly-stretched skin covering the cyst. Almost instantly, a substance that looks eerily like cottage cheese starts to gush out. This gunk, Lee explains, is the buildup of dead, wet skin cells inside the cyst. She compares chunky contents to oatmeal.

Whatever your preferred food metaphor, it's captivating. Each time Lee pushes on the cyst, more gunk flows forth. To say that it's like a waterfall is not an exaggeration.

dr pimple popper tlc cyst

From there, it gets a bit bloodier and tougher to watch. Lee must remove the sac that contained all of those dead skin cells — a process that's painful for Ronen. But removing this sac completely is the only way to keep it from regrowing, Lee explains. (By the way: That's the reason why squeezing out cysts at home will never be effective.)

After his recovery, Ronen says he has "the most admiration" for Lee.

dr pimple popper tlc ronen scar

At a follow-up appointment with Lee, Ronen reveals a scar that appears to have healed well.

"I spent years not trusting doctors but I have the most admiration and respect for Dr. Lee," he says near the close of the episode. "There was moments of pain but the pain is well worth the result that I feel right now."

Ronen's cyst pop isn't the only compelling moment in the episode. One woman has a milium on her eyelid so big it obstructs her vision, another has a lipoma lodged deep in her neck, and a third deals with a heartbreaking chronic illness that causes infected and inflamed sweat glands. You can catch the entire episode (and future ones) on TLC's website or through the TLCGo app.

11 times the 'Game of Thrones' stars trolled fans — from faked photos to straight up lies

Jon Snow

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Game of Thrones."

HBO's "Game of Thrones" has notoriously been the target for spoiler-hungry fans. But over the course of its nearly 10-year run, the show's creators and cast have found creative ways to dupe fans or troll the would-be leakers

From teasing book readers who thought they knew what was coming to tricking interviewers with semantics, INSIDER has gathered all the most memorable times the "Game of Thrones" cast and crew tried to pull a fast one on fans.

Keep reading for a look at 11 times the "Game of Thrones" stars trolled fans.

Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) started the hardcore trolling of fans during the fourth season of "Game of Thrones."

Her first time wading into the "spoilers" came with a photoshoot for Hunger TV. Headey and Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) interviewed each other for this feature, but the real kicker came from the spoiler-ific pose the pair did.

Headey placed both her thumbs over Pascal's eyes as he made a screaming face — a gesture which book readers knew was a nod at the way his character would gruesomely die by the end of the season.

For show-only fans, this was pretty close to a spoiler given that Oberyn's death was meant to be a shocking conclusion to his trial-by-combat fight against The Mountain.

Later that same month, Headey pulled a fast one on those same book readers who thought they knew what was coming.

In the original books, it's revealed that Catelyn Stark was resurrected several days after the Red Wedding and is now exacting revenge on the Freys under the name Lady Stoneheart.

When the third season of "Game of Thrones"ended with no Stoneheart in sight, book readers thought Benioff and Weiss were simply holding her reveal for the fourth season.

So when Headey shared an Instagram post with the caption "my stone heart" and a photo of a heart rock formation, people thought this was once again a nod to book readers who knew what was coming.

But the fourth (and fifth and sixth and seventh) seasons of "Game of Thrones" came and went with no Lady Stoneheart. Instead, we just got confirmation that Headey enjoyed messing with fans who would inevitably pick apart her social feeds.

Headey continued getting into fans' heads when she wore a shirt saying "I'm not sorry" for her Jimmy Kimmel appearance.

When Headey sat down for an interview on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" just after the season four finale, the "Game of Thrones" star seemed to be teasing those fans who fell for her Stoneheart troll. She wore a shirt that said "I'm not sorry" circled in a heart, but feigned ignorance when asked if she had purposefully messed with fans.

As reported by Vanity Fair's Joanna Robinson at the time, Headey told Kimmel she wasn't intentionally trying to rile up book readers.

"No, that was me drunk in Palm Springs going, 'This is so pretty,'" Headey said.

roseanne barr explains valerie jarrett tweet

  • In a new video posted to her personal YouTube page, Roseanne Barr claims she didn't know Valerie Jarrett was black.
  • "I thought the b---h was white," Barr screams twice about Jarett in the minute-long video.
  • In May, Barr compared the former Obama adviser to an ape. Jarrett is a black woman who was born in Iran and faced extreme criticism by the public.
  • As a result, ABC canceled the reboot of her hit show "Roseanne."
  • In June, ABC announced it would bring the show back with the rest of the original cast except Barr. It will be tentatively called "The Conners."
  • In a statement to INSIDER, Barr said she regretted the "circumstances that have caused me to be removed from 'Roseanne.' I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved."
  • Since early July, Barr has told fans she would share her own explanation of what happened with her May tweet on YouTube.
  • The interview, released Thursday, is only slightly over a minute in length. Most of it consists of Barr doing a sound test and being prepped by a person off-camera on how she should approach addressing her fans.
  • "Imagine a presidential address. Like, you're busted with killing a hooker. Whatever," the unseen person says.
  • The video culminates in her single-sentence explanation about the Jarrett tweet. Watch the video below.

  • Whoopi Goldberg and the Fox News host Jeanine Pirro got into a shouting match over President Donald Trump on "The View" on Thursday, and Pirro later said she got "thrown out of the building."
  • Pirro was on the show promoting her new book, but the interview derailed when Pirro pointed at Goldberg and told her she suffered from "Trump derangement syndrome."

Whoopi Goldberg and the Fox News host Jeanine Pirro got into a shouting match over President Donald Trump on "The View" on Thursday, and their heated argument reportedly escalated backstage after the on-air segment ended.

Pirro was on the ABC talk show to promote her new book, "Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy," but the interview derailed when Pirro pointed at Goldberg and told her she suffered from "Trump derangement syndrome."

"Listen, I don't have 'Trump derangement,'" Goldberg said. "Let me tell you what I have: I'm tired of people starting a conversation with 'Mexicans are liars and rapists.'"

She continued: "I'm 62 years old. There have been a lot of people in office that I didn't agree with. But I have never, ever seen anything like this. I've never seen anybody whip up such hate. I've never seen anybody be so dismissive."

"You know what's horrible?" Pirro said later. "When people who shouldn't be here end up murdering the children of American citizens."

"What's horrible is when the president of the United States whips up people to beat the hell out of people," Goldberg shouted over Pirro before ending the segment by ripping up the cards for her questions and telling Pirro, "Say goodbye! Bye! I'm done."

Page Six reported that their argument continued "backstage when the two crossed paths":

"A source told us, 'Jeanine tried telling her she's fought for victims her whole life.' That's when 'Whoopi got in her face and said that they've known each other a long time, but still, "F--- you, get the f--- out of this building." Jeanine looked stunned.'"

Pirro appeared on Fox News' "Hannity" on Thursday night and confirmed Page Six's report, adding that she "got thrown off the set, thrown out of the building."

  • Aaron Paul brought his five-month old daughter, Story Annabelle Paul, to San Diego Comic-Con Thursday.
  • Paul dressed Story up as his character from AMC's "Breaking Bad" in a yellow hazmat suit.
  • The two attended the 10th-anniversary reunion panel for the AMC show.
  • Fans gushed over the two together.
  • Paul told Jimmy Fallon in March his daughter is named after "the story" of his first date with his wife, Lauren Parsekian, in which they almost eloped in Vegas and bought a leather jacket for their unborn child.

San Diego Comic-Con is in full swing and one of the biggest panels Thursday was a 10th anniversary reunion of the "Breaking Bad" cast.

While Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, RJ Mitte, Giancarlo Esposito, and creator Vince Gilligan were all in attendance, it was Aaron Paul's five-month-old daughter Story who stole the show.

Paul brought out Story in the iconic yellow hazmat suit he and Cranston wore on the AMC show to cook blue crystal meth.

Here's video of the moment:

The AMC show follows high school teacher Walter White (Cranston) after he's diagnosed with terminal cancer. He and an old student, Jesse (Aaron Paul), get together to start selling meth (yes, it sounds bizarre) so his family can be provided for when he's gone.

Here's how Jesse and Walt look in their cooking gear.

Many took to Paul's Instagram to leave some love on a selfie he posted with Story.

Paul told Jimmy Fallon the story behind his daughter’s name and it involves the actor’s very first date with his wife Lauren Parsekian.

"We had a handful of names. We didn't want to name her until we met her," Paul told Fallon in March. "We just decided to go with Story."

Paul said he and Parsekian met at a music festival and then he had to go back to work on "Breaking Bad." The next time they saw each other was in Vegas and he asked her out on a date.

"We did dinner and a show. We drove back this old car that I bought in Vegas. That night we actually bought our unborn baby a leather jacket and we went to a chapel to get married, but the chapel happened to be closed," Paul said of their first date. “So we took that as a sign and just waited. So she’s our little story."

Warning: There are potential spoilers ahead for "The Walking Dead" season nine.

The first trailer for "The Walking Dead" season nine debuted at San Diego Comic-Con Friday and it teases Negan in jail, Maggie's baby, new characters, and our first hint at the show's next villains, The Whisperers.

While you were probably still getting over the news of Andrew Lincoln's impending departure from the zombie series, INSIDER rounded up a bunch of smaller details and hints about the direction of the new season you may have missed the first go-around.

Negan is in jail.

Let's start out with the most obvious. Rick said he wanted to build a new world and in order to do that, he knew he would have to put Negan away. When Rick decided to spare Negan's life at the end of season eight, it looks like he put him in a new jailed cell where he sometimes comes to visit.

If you look closely, Negan has a very long beard which matches the one Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been sporting in public. Comic fans probably weren't surprised to see this since this is exactly how Negan's storyline goes down in the comics.

Maggie isn't pregnant anymore and is carrying around her baby.

Lauren Cohan's character has been pregnant since season six without really showing. Three seasons later, her child is finally here.

In case you think that might be another baby, the "Walking Dead" Twitter account confirmed it's Maggie's baby.

Father Gabriel is blind in one eye.

Doctor Carson told Gabriel if he didn't treat his infection that he could lose his sight. After a season of dealing with blurred vision, it looks like Father Gabriel is up and about but at the cost of one of his eyes.

This “Buffy” won’t be a continuation of the original series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, but will feature a brand-new Buffy, who will be African-American. There’s no network attached as of yet.

Besides Whedon, original executive producers Gail Berman, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui are also behind the revival (and Berman’s The Jackal Group partner Joe Earley is also attached). Fox 21 TV Studios is expected to pitch the new show to cable and streaming outlets this summer.

“Buffy” was reinvented for the small screen, and quickly developed critical raves and a rabid following with stars Gellar, David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Nicholas Brendon, James Marsters and Anthony Stewart Head, among others. It also spawned the spinoff “Angel.” The show later moved to UPN, and ended its run after 144 episodes in 2003.

There’s no word yet on a story for the new “Buffy.” The news isn’t a complete surprise, as 20th Century Fox TV chairman Gary Newman hinted at a reboot in an interview with Variety this spring. It’s something “we talk about frequently,” he said.

Owusu-Breen’s credits also include “Midnight, Texas,” “Revolution,” “Fringe,” “Lost,” “Alias,” and “Charmed.”

Coincidentally, “Charmed” was also a series from The WB that is currently undergoing the reboot treatment — and also with a brand-new, diverse cast. The new version of “Charmed” airs on The CW next season.

The newest episode of 'Dr Pimple Popper' shows a cyst that looks like it's full of cottage cheese — and the pop is truly jaw-dropping

Fans couldn't get enough of the adorable "Breaking Bad" father and daughter duo.

So she’s our little story."

rick sad walking dead

Andrew Lincoln has made it official.

The "Walking Dead" star has confirmed he will be leaving the AMC zombie series during season nine.

Lincoln confirmed the news Friday afternoon at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel.

"This will be my last season playing the part of Rick Grimes," Lincoln told the Comic-Con crowd to a series of groans. "Now, hear me out, please. Please. I love this show. It means everything to me."

Lincoln has played the lead character, Rick Grimes, on "The Walking Dead" since season one. Grimes woke up from a coma to discover a world filled with the undead. In a nearly two-minute speech, the actor thanked the crowd for following him on screen for nearly a decade.

"I love the people who make this show. I promise not to cry. I've done enough crying on screen. I'm particularly fond of the people who watch the show — you people," continued Lincoln. "This has been the most extraordinary, amazing and [inaudible], of my career, and may largely, because of you guys and the relationship we have here with you, and with you [Lincoln pointed towards moderator Yvette Nicole Brown] in this room and also in rooms across America and the rest of the world, so I just want to thank you. I don't want this to turn into an Oscar acceptance speech or an obituary. This is not the point of it."

"As you've seen in the trailer, we're deeply, deeply proud of the work that we've done this season. I think [new showrunner] Angela [Kang] is astonishing and leading with such class," said Lincoln of the series' new showrunner. "It's enabling us as actors to really breathe and deepen the relationships on screen."

You can watch Lincoln address the crowd below:

At the panel's end, Lincoln said he's leaving the series to return back home to spend time with his family.

"These guys have been the best surrogate family I could have hoped for. But I do have a real family and it is time for me to go home, but Norman [Reedus, aka Daryl] and Danai [Gurira, Michonne] send me scripts so I can keep one eye on the series," Lincoln said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "It's been everything to me for 10 years. I believe in the story so much that I can't spoil it for you. This is a really terrific season."
