Jon Snow

When "Game of Thrones" returns to HBO Sunday evening, fans have one question they want answered: Did Jon Snow survive the brutal attack from his Night's Watch brothers at the end of season five?

By now, fans have heard numerous times from producers, actors, and even the HBO programming president himself that Jon Snow is "deader than dead."

Well, here's another nail in the coffin.

In a new interview with Variety, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss reiterate the fact that Jon Snow is dead.

"Yeah, John Snow is dead," says creator and showrunner David Benioff.

The duo tell fans if they're still not convinced, to just look at the eyes.

"You know, if you zoom in on his eyes when you're watching it — because people are maybe thinking, 'Well maybe he's not really dead' — but if you look at his eyes there, we spent a lot of time making sure that those pupils dilate," he continued.

"We spent good money on this," Weiss interjected. "Pupil area muscles relax when your body gives up. It is called a pupillary sphincter. As a matter of fact, we looked this up on the internets and it said that your pupillary sphincter relaxes and that your eyes dilate. So, if you look carefully, Jon's eye dilates."

In case you're wondering, yes, iris sphincter's are a thing. They're one of tens of sphincters in our bodies. The "Game of Thrones" showrunners aren't making that up and our eyes do slightly dilate when we die.

You can definitely see both of Snow's eyes dilate in the final moments of the episode.

Still, die-hard fans, including my colleague Kim Renfro, are pretty convinced that while that may be the case, this probably won't be the last we've seen of Snow. There's a good chance we'll see him resurrected in season six.

We'll have to wait until season six of the show returns to HBO April 24 at 9 p.m.
